Our philosophy
If you make music,
you're a musician.
That’s it. That’s the whole idea.
Some people make music for thousands.
Some make music for one.
Some make music for nobody but themselves.
Some are just getting started.
Some have been playing their entire lives.
It doesn’t matter how old you are,
what you play or how well you play it.
If you make music, you’re a musician.
Official Musician.

No minimum age.
No maximum volume.
No qualifications required.
You might sing, play an instrument, make beats on a laptop or discover a rhythm for the very first time. There is no minimum age, musical genre, experience or talent requirement. Music is something you do, not something you need permission to be part of.
The words on the back
Play the song.
“Don’t play notes. Don’t play music.
Just PLAY THE SONG.”
The phrase grew out of founder David E. Ballard’s years as a musician and part-time music teacher. It’s a reminder to move beyond the mechanics and into the experience.
A reminder from years of making music and teaching it: don’t get so caught up in the notes that you forget the song. Play with feeling. Be in the moment. Enjoy making something that’s yours.
